To my knowledge, no Representative has been detained or arrested for a traffic violation and no incumbent has asked for any immunity from arrest or detention for a traffic infraction.

The apparent off-the-cuff invocation of constitutional immunity from arrest for offenses punishable with imprisonment of not more than six years is uncalled for.

President Rodrigo Duterte’s declaration of September 21 as “a day of protest” virtually elevates the 45th anniversary of the imposition of martial law by the late dictator Ferdinand Marcos to a holiday.

Making amends is never too late.

There is still sufficient time for the House of Representatives to restore the downgraded budget of the Commission on Human Rights (CHR) before the General Appropriations Bill (GAB) is submitted for third reading.

The supermajority in the House of Representatives played the dual roles of “Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde” in sustaining insufficiency in form and substance of the Gadon impeachment complaint and rejecting the sufficiency in form of Jimenez/Mallari complaint.

This split personality charade tried to minimize the clear agenda of the supermajority of pursuing the impeachment of Supreme Court Chief Justice Maria Lourdes Sereno.

To mark the late dictator’s 100th birth anniversary, the Marcos heirs must unequivocally commit the immediate surrender of the totality of the Marcos ill-gotten hoard without conditions, instead of celebrating in the Libingan ng mga Bayani which he does not deserve and does not deserve him.

The Marcoses’ shamelessness is beyond words and their sense of entitlement knows no bounds.
