President Rodrigo Duterte must be lauded for his forthwith vindication of Vice President Leni Robredo and his swift dismissal of Manuelito Luna, a Commissioner of the Presidential Anti-Corruption Commission (PACC) who asked the National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) to summon Robredo for her anti-COVID-19 volunteer work.
In a rare display of candor and forthrightness, the President defended Robredo for providing free shuttle service and dormitories to healthcare workers as well as personal protective equipment to frontline doctors and nurses.
Luna was fired by the President for fomenting dissension and petty partisanship in the country’s collective efforts to contain the escalation of the deadly novel coronavirus.
